Dyson fans use Air Multiplier technology to create a powerful stream of uninterrupted airflow.

Like all Dyson fans, AM08 has patented Air Multiplier technology for powerful airflow projection. Air is accelerated through an annular aperture, drawing in surrounding air to project a powerful, cooling flow of high-velocity air. And with no blades, the airflow is smooth – not choppy. Dyson engineers developed AM08 to be quieter and more energy efficient than its predecessor, with no compromise in performance. AM08 is 35% quieter than its predecessor AM03. Streamlined air channels reduce airflow turbulence so that air passes through the machine more quietly and with greater efficiency. It also has an acoustically engineered motor bucket to reduce vibration and therefore noise. Energy efficiency has also been improved. With smoother airflow through the machine, the DC motor doesn’t need to work so hard so less energy is required to channel the air for the same performance. Energy wastage has been reduced with the addition of a sleep-timer – enabling you to set exactly when you want the Dyson Cool to be working. The fan can be programmed to turn off after preset intervals ranging from 15 minutes to 9 hours. AM08 comes with a remote control providing 10 precise airflow settings – as well as one touch oscillation control for smoother oscillation. For extra convenience, the remote is curved and magnetized to store neatly on the machine. With no blades and no awkward safety grilles, all Dyson fans are very easy to clean.

That’s why the only place you’ll find Dyson technology is inside a Dyson machine. Dyson fans use Air Multiplier technology to amplify surrounding air.

Dyson Air Multiplier Technology

AM08 uses Dyson’s patented Air Multiplier technology for powerful airflow projection, with no chopping blades. With Air Multiplier technology, air is drawn in at the base of the machine. It is accelerated through a 2.5mm annular aperture, generating a high velocity jet of air. This passes over an airfoil-shaped ramp, channeling its direction and creating areas of low pressure behind and around the fan. The change in pressure forces surrounding air to be drawn into the airflow – called inducement and entrainment. There are no chopping blades, so there’s no buffeting – just a powerful stream of smooth cooling air.

30% Quieter Than AM03: Streamlined air channels reduce airflow turbulence, making AM08 30% quieter than its predecessor AM03. Motor noise and vibration have been isolated using a Helmholtz cavity: an acoustically engineered motor casing that reduces noise.

Dyson Refurbished Fans: Dyson refurbished fans have been stripped down, cleaned out, reassembled and thoroughly tested. They’re restored to a fully functional condition. In short, they are everything a Dyson machine should be - they work properly and circulate air just like new. Dyson refurbishes fans that are returned to us by retailers or consumers. Refurbishing these machines, rather than disposing of them, means that the parts and materials are re-used instead of wasted.

When a machine comes to us to be refurbished, it is first stripped down as far as necessary. Components removed from the machine that meet our high standards of quality are kept and cleaned. Most damaged or broken components are sent away for recycling. The core of the machine is thoroughly cleaned and new parts are added to replace damaged or cosmetically unacceptable parts discovered during the stripping down process.

Just like our brand new machines, the rebuilt machine then undergoes a comprehensive series of electrical and performance tests to ensure that it works as it should. For our fans, one of the tests carried out is airflow. All refurbished fans are electrically tested in compliance with electrical and safety requirements.

One of the primary differences between a new Dyson machine and a refurbished Dyson machine is its appearance – a scratch here or there may provide a clue that it has been previously used. After it has passed all of the tests, the machine is then packaged and sent out. All Dyson refurbished fans come with a 6 month parts and labor warranty.
